cos life’s like that

Things have been going crazy lately. What with the tremendous amount of work at the office (overtime overtime overtime) & uni apps, flights to canada, deciding, feelings. Everything’s just been going in overdrive mode and haywire in my head. I’ve pretty much broken down a couple of times but still hanging in there. The future is exciting, but the present is currently exhilarating.

So will update when I’m free. Just hang in there!

Yo, I’m sorry for your loss. We’re all with you.

From matching gems to the perfect match

Hacker proposes to girlfriend via casual puzzle game Bejeweled.

You’re probably accustomed to seeing big-screen proposals at ball games, in crowded restaurants, and scrawled across the sky by aircraft. But popping the question by hiding a message in your intended’s favorite computer game is rather more unusual.

However, for computer programmer Bernie Peng, it obviously seemed like the perfect idea. He spent a month reprogramming his girlfriend Tammy Liu’s favorite video game, gem-matching hit Bejeweled, so that it would display the all-important message when she reached a certain score. As Peng told Newark’s Star-Ledger: “I thought it was pretty cool, in a nerdy way.”

Did she agree? Fortunately for Peng, she did, and the pair plan a September wedding. Popcap, the company responsible for Bejeweled (and consequently untold hours of lost productivity in offices around the world) is flying the couple out for a Seattle honeymoon, and supplying copies of Bejeweled to hand out as wedding favors. A word of advice to any guests, though: don’t sit next to two other people wearing the same color, or all three of you will vanish.

You can try the game for yourself right here — but don’t count on it hiding any marriage proposals.

Isn’t it sooo sweet? :) I would be so touched if someone did that for me. I don’t care if I’m geeky hehe!

BHP Orange Run!

King, Shing, Rip and I decided to join this run in the hopes of winning RM1000 for coming in first. Unfortunately, we have very high hopes & did not achieve this goal. King wanted to stamp failure on his bib, but it wasn’t actually that bad. The Brooks 5k Run was MUCH worse for me and it was shorter. Why? I’m not too sure actually. But running 9k for the first time without any training whatsoever was a pretty big goal for me.

I know you athletes may scoff and snigger at me saying “Oh yeah 9k? Whatever, I could do it with my eyes closed in 30 mins!” But I’m unfit okay! And clocked in at 1 hour 20-25 mins. Rip was really fast, clocking in at 50 minutes.

Haha, look at Uncle Tai. This was at McDonalds before the run began.

It was unfair though that one of the Malaysian Runners joined in the run, obviously winning herself RM1000. & I just have to complain about the amount of litter at the 5k rest stop where they were serving 100 plus. DON’T YOU RUNNERS CARE ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT?? Seriously, there was a trash can right in front for everyone to throw their cups in, but nooooo...HUNDREDS of cups were strewn everywhere on the street making it look like a war zone. GRRR. Don’t run if you can’t even aim properly for the trash can. I mean, does it take so much effort to just throw your cup in? Poor Curve was exactly the same. There was rubbish everywhere amongst all the stalls -Milo, Vico, Maggie Mee, Nestle, IndoCafe but trash cans everywhere. Tsk.

This is what the photographer took. It’s not AT ALL a flattering shot but it’s on the run! I look like I’m about the collapse haha.

The things we got afterward. Not much either. They are proud, but they shouldn’t be for littering. Rawr. It’s seriously one of my pet peeves.

Then after that, Rip & I went for Raveena’s 2nd Birthday @ McDonalds!

Jacksun decided to be funny and make this for Rakesh, haha.
Rakesh: Jacksun, she’s 2 years old. Sick, you’re sick.

She’s the daughter of one of my colleagues, Rakesh & she is adorable! She was really scared of Hamburger Burger(?) though, but then again who wouldn’t be?

Aww, isn’t she cute? :)
